PORTFOLIO

"A few minutes to take - a few months to put together.”

That is what I always say about my photomontages. It’s photography but it’s not.
Sometimes I call it painting with pictures. Like a painting, each photomontage is a unique piece of creative expression.
They are very time and labor intensive. Assembling them is not only like painting,
it is also something similar to quilting or building ships in bottles.

Why Photojoiners?

Unlike photography, photomontage is not as obsessed with its subject. They are more an interpretation of it.  Indeed, the final picture often looks very different than the original location. For me, photomontage introduces into photography the elements of perspective, space, narrative and most of all time. Sometimes when I'm shooting a landscape, the clouds are drifting, the shadows are moving, the tide is rising, the sand is blowing off of the dunes and the light is fading.  You quickly realize then that no part of  the scene, or our world, is ever the same.  Photomontage lets me capture that.
